Guided Walk: Huntley, Longhope and Hobb's Ridge

Saturday 3rd July 2010

Guided Walk - 10.00 am start at Huntley church (next to the garden centre)

The walk will cover approximately 3 miles and involves some steep hills.

The walk explores the new Gloucestershire Uncovered trail through the Huntley Quarry Geology Reserve, over Huntley Hill and back along Hobb's Ridge.

Along the way we see the Early Silurian rocks of Huntley Quarry and Huntley Hill, great views over the Severn Vale, River Severn and part of the Forest of Dean, and the stunning exposure of coral reefs in the Wenlock Limestone provided by Hobb's Quarry. Hobb's also provides an opportunity for fossil hunting.

We will return to the start by lunchtime where there is a cafe available at the Country Garden Centre.
