Forest of Dean Local History Society Fair

Sunday 23rd May 2010

Exhibition and display - 10.00 am - 4.00pm ,

The History Fair, hosted by the Forest of Dean Local History Society (FODLHS),
will be held on Sunday 23 May 2010 in the Raglan Suite  at
Bells Hotel
and Golf Club, Lords Hill, Coleford, GL16 8BE.
There will be plenty of parking space across the road.  
Refreshments will be on sale from Bells Hotel.

The Fair will be open to the public from 10am - 4pm.
An entrance fee of £3 will be charged for adults, with children under 16 free.

The Fair will be opened by the FODLHS’s new President, the Right Honourable Baroness Royall of Blaisdon. 
As well as stalls and displays with books and related items for sale, there will be a number of different events throughout the day:

  • A help desk will be manned by FODLHS members who have a vast knowledge of the history of the Forest of Dean available to visitors to the fair
  • 20 minute, workshops will be held throughout the day: guides to doing both house history research and family history research. 
  • There will be a silent auction items for items including: a Cyril Hart book; photos signed by Edna Healey; New Regard Journals; mugs and other high quality items .
  • A member of staff from the Gloucester Archives will be providing children’s activities.

The Forest of Dean Local History Society is a registered charity and proceeds from the day will go towards our aims of advancing the study of local history, in particular the local history of the Forest of Dean and its surrounding area, and furthering the preservation of artefacts, archaeological and historical sites, and archives.
