Wednesday 10th April – GEOWARDENS' MEETING

Meet at Huntley Church at 10.30 am for on-site meeting to discuss clearance days, open days etc.

May 2013
Friday 10th May – GEOWARDENS CLEARANCE DAY – Huntley Geological Reserve

10am - 1pm. Meet by Huntley Church. Tools and refreshments provided.

Sunday 19th May- PUBLIC OPEN DAY- Huntley Geological Reserve

A free event for all the family with lots to see and do! Discover how local geology explains the dramatic changes in the local landscape. Self guided geology and landscape trails available (£2.00) including Huntley, Longhope and Hobbs Ridge. Take a free guided tour of the quarries whilst the chidlren have fun with fossils, minerals and I-Spy sheets.

Parking available at Huntley Church car park and near Longhope, signposted off the A40 on the day.

Refreshments and toilets are available at the Country Garden Centre, Huntley.

Some steep sections on access footpaths. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing.

Saturday 25th, Sunday 26th & the morning of Monday 27th May - The Gloucester Stonecarving Festival
Llanthony Priory

Cat's Eye Carving, participant, winner and organiser of stonemasons festivals, has scheduled this event to showcase the incredible skills of stonemasons of all abilities. The theme is nautical and will tie in with the Tall Ships Festival also taking place on the same weekend. Carrie Horwood, of Cat's Eye Carving, will be carving a figurehead as a raffle prize, and will also be running 'have a go' sessions so that the general public can get an idea of just how difficult stonemasonry is!

Charles Ferris from the Friends of the Newport Ship will be setting up a display in a medieval tent and striking coins. The Gloucester Geology Trust will be running activities and The Greenman ahd The Gatekeeper will have a stall showing their beautiful leather and pewter work.

August 2013

Sunday 18th August – Geofest Event – Huntley Geological Reserve

Huntley Geowardens will be leading guided tours of the reserve starting at 11 am and 2 pm.
Meet in the Country Garden Centre car park.
Family event.
Admission free – donations appreciated.
