Gloucestershire Geology Sites 'A' List

hansonlogo

(Supported by Natural England through Defra's Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund)

The Gloucestershire Geological Records Centre now has records of well over 300 geological, geomorphological and landscape sites in the county, so we embarked on a project to try to highlight the best sites where each geological formation and feature can be seen in the county. The construction of this 'A-List' of sites also highlighted where formations and features were poorly represented in the current records; information which will be useful in the identification and surveying of new Regionally Important Geodiversity Sites.

A copy of the 'A-List' of Gloucestershire Geodiversity SItes is available for download, as is a stratigraphic column of the solid geology of Gloucestershire, and a more detailed stratigraphic column of the Quaternary deposits found in the county.
Each of these is available as a pdf download below.

  • Download the Gloucestershire Geodiversity Sites 'A-List' here
  • Download the Gloucestershire Solid Geology Stratigraphic Column here
  • Download the Gloucestershire Quaternary Deposits Stratigraphic Column here
