Tintern Sandstone

Late Devonian (Fammenian)

Old Red Sandstone
Tintern Sandstone

Lithology
Interbedded grey-green, puplish brown and red sandstones with subordinate quartz pebble conglomerate, mudstone and marl partings.

Upper Boundary
Upward passage of alternating sandstone shale and limestone grade into the Lower Limestone Shale.

Lower Boundary
Drawn at base of Tintern Sandstone Group where it rests conformably on quartz conglomerate of the Quartz Conglomerate Group.
